Welcome to the Wheelhouse Falkirk Newsletter No 1

It’s been a hectic few weeks for us since opening the restaurant on December 15th serving over 24,000 meals in the first two months alone. We have received hundreds of emails wishing us good luck in our new venture and also asking for regular updates on promotions , activities etc and now that we are at last managing to get some spare time I thought that we would introduce a regular news letter. We receive on average 20,000 visits a month to our website, so I am obviously keen to update it regularly with any news and offers available in the restaurant. 

We would like to thank everyone for their support and kind wishes for our new restaurant, it’s been fantastic to see so many guests returning time and again.

You may have been seeing a few new faces during your visits, this is largely due to the fact that we are still recruiting, despite currently employing 55 team members, this number I anticipate should rise to around 70 by Spring. Our latest recruit is a new restaurant manager to join Louise and her management team. David Mcvittie joins us on Monday 5th March. David has worked for many years in hospitality for Whitbread and brings with him a wealth of experience to help support myself, Josie, Louise, Gillian and Lauren front of house. I am sure that he will look forward to welcoming you during your next visit.

Mothers Day is fast approaching so why not beat the rush and book for our popular Brunch menu served in the restaurant between 9am and 11.45am. Brunch is always popular at the weekends so book early for Mothers Day on 18th March. Alternatively if you can’t get booked for Mothers Day why not treat mum to a Wheelhouse Gift Voucher and let her enjoy a meal at her leisure.
Easter is always a busy time and with peak time weekend bookings currently full almost two weeks in advance why not book now to save disappointment.

Also coming soon is our garden furniture. We can’t wait to throw open the doors to the outside patios and garden areas. Did you know that we will have 150 covers over three separate areas, all with a southerly aspect, and we still have plans for a further 50 once we develop the restaurant decking. All we need now is the weather. Keep an eye on future newsletters for our forth coming summer garden events.

We have had a lot of feed back from guests experiencing difficulties trying to get through by phone. This has been down to several things. Firstly our fax number was issued initially as the main contact number by many of the directory companies, this was rectified within the first few days. Secondly we are aware that many of the same companies have been issuing the number for the Falkirk Wheel in error (they currently receive an average of 12 calls per day from our guests trying to reserve tables) this we have also highlighted to the same directory companies. Finally the phone rings constantly during peak time and it has been impossible to answer all of the calls. -   The good news however is that I am currently looking to introduce an on line restaurant reservation service which will hopefully make it easier to reserve a table and also reduce the number of missed calls. I will hopefully send out more details of this in our next news letter.

We are currently working on some fantastic offers over the next few months with some exclusive to our email newsletter.
